Carmax Smartload 230 V is a portable EV charger that connects to a standard earthed Schuko socket. Equipped with a Type 2 charging connector, the electric car charger is suitable for charging EVs and plug-in hybrids at home, at a holiday home or while travelling.
Using a WiFi connection and the free Powerant app, charging can be scheduled for the lowest electricity spot-price periods or controlled with a maximum price limit. The maximum charging power is 3.7 kW, and the charging current can be adjusted between 8 and 16 A to suit the available socket.

Charging based on electricity spot prices
The Powerant app allows you to select the desired number of lowest-priced charging periods or set a maximum electricity price. The smart EV charger automatically starts and stops charging according to the selected settings.
Electricity spot-price control requires a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection at the charging location. Charging can also be started immediately without using price-based control.
Who is Smartload 230 V suitable for?
The portable EV charger is particularly suitable for plug-in hybrids, electric cars with moderate daily charging requirements and locations where a 400 V CEE socket is unavailable. Its compact design makes the charger convenient to keep in the car and use at different charging locations.
The EV charger must be connected to an earthed socket protected by a residual current device. The charging current must be selected according to the permitted load of the socket and electrical circuit. If the suitability of the socket for a continuous 16 A load is uncertain, the electrical installation should be inspected by a qualified electrician.
