Carmax Smartload 400 V is a portable three-phase EV charger that connects to a five-pin 400 V 16 A CEE socket. Equipped with a Type 2 connector, the electric car charger can charge an EV or plug-in hybrid with up to 11 kW of power.

Using a WiFi connection and the free Powerant app, charging can be scheduled for the lowest electricity spot-price periods or controlled with a maximum price limit. If a suitable 400 V CEE socket is already available, the charger can be used without installing a permanent wall-mounted charging station.

Charging based on electricity spot prices

The Powerant app allows you to select the desired number of lowest-priced charging periods or set a maximum electricity price. The smart EV charger automatically starts and pauses charging according to the selected settings.

Electricity spot-price control requires a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection at the charging location. Charging can also be started immediately without using price-based control.

Who is Smartload 400 V suitable for?

The portable 11 kW EV charger is suitable for use at home, at a holiday home, in a workshop or while travelling, provided that a compliant 400 V 16 A CEE socket is available. Its compact design makes the charger convenient to keep in the car and use at different locations.

To achieve the maximum 11 kW charging power, the vehicle must support three-phase 11 kW AC charging. The actual charging power depends on the vehicle’s onboard charger.

The CEE socket and electrical circuit must be suitable for a continuous 3 × 16 A load and protected by an appropriate residual current device. Do not use the charger with an extension cable. Protect the plugs and charging unit from direct heavy rain and snow.
