Carmax Smartload X400 Long is a portable electric vehicle charger with an approximately 10-metre charging cable. The three-phase 400 V EV charger connects to a five-pin 16 A CEE socket and charges an electric car or plug-in hybrid with a Type 2 charging port at up to 11 kW.
WiFi connectivity and the free Powerant app allow the smart EV charger to operate during the cheapest electricity spot-price periods or according to a user-defined price cap. The Long version is particularly suitable for locations where the CEE socket is further away from the parking space.

Electric vehicle charger with a long cable
The 10 m charging cable provides greater flexibility when the CEE socket is not located directly beside the vehicle. Smartload X400 Long is suitable for garages, carports, yards, workshops, holiday homes and travelling, allowing it to reach different parking positions and vehicle charging-port locations.
Compared with the standard Smartload 400 V model, the main difference is the approximately twice as long charging cable. The longer cable reduces the need for an extension cable, which must not be used for charging an electric vehicle.
Smart charging based on electricity spot prices
The Powerant app allows you to select the desired number of cheapest charging periods or set a maximum electricity price. The electricity price-controlled EV charger automatically starts and pauses charging according to the selected settings.
A 2.4 GHz WiFi connection must be available at the charging location to use spot-price control. When required, EV charging can also be started immediately without using price-based control.
Use and safety
To use the maximum 11 kW charging power, the electric vehicle must support three-phase 11 kW AC charging. The actual charging power depends on the vehicle’s onboard charger.
The CEE socket and electrical circuit must be suitable for a continuous 3 × 16 A load and protected by an appropriate residual current device. If the suitability of the existing CEE socket or electrical circuit is uncertain, the installation must be inspected by a qualified electrician.
The EV charger must not be used with an extension cable. Despite its IP54 rating, the charging unit, plugs and connections should be protected from direct heavy rain and snow.
