The ZUBR D2 DIN rail surge protector simultaneously safeguards your electrical appliances against both overvoltage and undervoltage, as well as power outages. In the event of abnormal grid voltage, the ZUBR D2 voltage relay automatically disconnects the load until the power supply normalizes.
This overvoltage protection device offers versatile functionality and is available with either 40A or 63A output relays. The surge protector allows you to adjust the switch-on delay time to minimize the number of rapid on-off interruptions, which can be highly dangerous to modern electronic equipment.
Standard Overheating Protection
The surge protector features a built-in temperature sensor for maximum safety. It automatically turns off the load if the internal temperature exceeds +80°C, while the screen flashes a «danger» warning. Once the internal temperature drops below +60°C, the voltage relay switches the load back on and resumes normal operation.
If the overvoltage protection triggers more than 5 times in a single day, the voltage relay is blocked to alert the user to the abnormal electrical situation. It remains blocked until the internal temperature drops below +60°C (the «danger» warning stops flashing) and one of the buttons is pressed. To check the current temperature of the thermal protection sensor: press the «i» button during an overheating event, or hold the «i» button for 21 seconds when the device is functioning normally.
Load Switch-On Delay
By default, the surge protector has a minimum load switch-on delay of 3 seconds. Depending on the connected appliance, this can be adjusted between 3 and 600 seconds. For equipment sensitive to frequent power outages, such as refrigerators and air conditioners, a switch-on delay of 2 to 3 minutes is highly recommended.
According to the default settings of the overvoltage protection, the relay delay is calculated from the moment the voltage stabilizes. However, the settings allow you to choose an alternative delay type where the countdown starts from the exact moment the surge protector disconnects.
Alarm Log for 100 Events
The device's non-volatile memory can store the last 100 emergency triggers, such as when the voltage relay disconnects or the overheating protection activates.
Ease of Use
The ZUBR D2 DIN rail surge protector features a highly convenient, standardized I/O connection; a neutral terminal is not required for installation. The voltage protection device is easily configured using just three buttons. A fourth «i» button is used to view the alarm log and decipher menu abbreviations. The digital display constantly shows the current voltage value and system information. You can also adjust the screen brightness and standby display settings.
Simple Installation
The ZUBR D2 surge protector is extremely compact, occupying only the space of 2 standard modules in a distribution board. It mounts easily on a standard 36 mm wide DIN rail in any electrical panel.
Additional Surge Protector Settings
1. Disconnect Time for Voltage Fluctuations This feature is essential for environments where the power grid is overloaded with high-power devices or suffers from poor power quality, leading to frequent voltage drops and repeated relay disconnections. While you cannot change the grid quality, you can reduce the number of voltage relay trips by adjusting the time the relay waits before disconnecting the load. Always refer to the technical specifications of your protected appliances when adjusting the disconnect time.
2. Hysteresis Adjustment If the surge protector triggers frequently, but the response limits cannot be expanded safely (and the grid voltage hovers near the set limit), adding hysteresis helps optimize the number of disconnections. This ensures the relay only switches when the voltage has stabilized below the established limit, effectively smoothing out unstable voltage near the set boundaries.
3. Protection Against Frequent Switching The voltage relay protects against rapid consecutive switching caused by an unstable electrical grid. It limits consecutive triggers to prevent damaging sensitive appliances like refrigerators or air conditioners. When the maximum number of consecutive actions is reached, the safety mechanism blocks the relay and disconnects the load until the user acknowledges the issue by pressing a button.
Frequent triggers of the overvoltage protection can be caused by:
Loss of neutral in the electrical grid.
Network voltage fluctuating unstably near the set limits.
In these cases, you can optimize the voltage relay's response rate by:
Increasing the surge protector's response limits according to the grid quality, ensuring the protected appliances can safely handle these new settings.
Adjusting the voltage hysteresis value.
