Product description
The SST / Sigmian TKR is a standard connection and end termination kit designed for preparing a ready-to-use self-regulating heating cable assembly directly at the installation site.
The kit is used to prepare both ends of the heating cable. One end is connected directly to the junction box terminals through an M25 cable entry, while a hermetically sealed end termination is made on the free end of the cable.
The TKR kit includes crimp terminals for connecting the cable conductors, a component for connecting the protective earth, silicone insulating components, a seal for the M25 cable entry and silicone adhesive sealant. A heat-shrink reinforcement sleeve provides the end termination with additional mechanical strength.
When installed correctly, the kit protects the connection and free end of the heating cable against moisture, dirt and electrical short circuits. The silicone insulating components allow both cable ends to be prepared quickly and securely.
The TKR is suitable for SST / Sigmian HTM, HTA, HTP, BTC, BTCe, BTX and BTXe series self-regulating heating cables. According to the manufacturer’s documentation, the kit may also be used in ATEX-classified hazardous areas, provided that the entire electric heat-tracing system is designed and installed in compliance with the applicable Ex requirements.
The electrical connection must be completed by a suitably qualified professional in accordance with the installation instructions supplied with the kit. The metal braid of the heating cable must be connected to protective earth, and the electrical circuit must be protected by a residual current device.

BTC, BTCe, BTX and BTXe series cables belong to higher temperature classes. When using these cables, the temperature limits specified in the installation instructions for the particular heating cable and TKR kit must be observed. Always ensure that the selected version of the kit is suitable for the corresponding cable.

Important information
The TKR is not a junction box and does not include a separate power supply cable. It is an installation kit for preparing a heating cable for direct connection to the terminals of a junction box and hermetically sealing the other end of the cable.
If the heating cable must be connected to a separate power supply cable, also known as a cold lead, without using a junction box, select the SST / Sigmian TKT/M connection and end termination kit.
The insulation resistance of the heating cable must be tested before and after installation. All cable ends and kit components must be dry during installation. The completed connection and end termination must not be exposed to mechanical loads.
