Easy installation of the self-regulating heating cable:
The main advantage of installing a self-regulating heating cable is that it can be cut to the exact required length on-site and branched if necessary. The 10W/m heating cable for water pipes is designed for installation on or inside water and sewer pipes. The heating cable is secured along the entire length of the pipe using aluminum tape, placed securely under the insulation without any fear of overheating.
Please note: This specific heating cable for water pipes is not suitable for use in rainwater gutters as it lacks UV resistance, and the required power for gutter heating cables must be significantly higher. (Read more about gutter heating cables here and sewer pipe heating cables here).
The self-regulating defrosting cable and its accessories are CE certified and fully approved for installation inside water pipes. The heating cable is frequently used for heating water supply lines and sprinkler systems because it is exceptionally easy to cut and branch exactly as needed.

How does the self-regulating heating cable work?
The self-regulating heating cable for water pipes changes its power output per meter based on the ambient temperature, but it never completely switches itself off. As seen in the technical data, the defrosting cable has an output of 10W/m at +10°C in a dry environment. However, a drinking water or sewer pipe defrosting cable should ideally be switched off entirely when the pipe temperature exceeds +3°C. Therefore, we always recommend using a thermostat with self-regulating heating cables to achieve the highest possible energy savings. Experience shows that without a thermostat, a self-regulating cable inside an insulated pipe will maintain a temperature of approximately +40°C.
Note! Even with plastic water pipes, you should never allow them to freeze, even if a heating cable is installed inside "just in case". When water freezes, it expands by about 9%. If the plastic pipe itself doesn't burst, the expanding ice is highly likely to push apart the pipe joints and branches, which will cause leaks later on!
