This slim NTC 10k underfloor heating sensor is primarily intended for replacing a faulty or damaged floor sensor. The sensor probe is only approximately 5 mm in diameter, making it easier to install in a narrow sensor conduit or in place of an existing sensor.

The sensor has a 3-metre connection cable and a nominal resistance of 10 kΩ at +25 °C. It is compatible with Heatline HL-series thermostats and other underfloor heating thermostats designed to use the same type of NTC 10k sensor.

Replacement sensor for an underfloor heating thermostat

The floor sensor measures the floor temperature and transmits this information to the thermostat. If the existing sensor is faulty, the thermostat may display a sensor error, stop heating or regulate the floor temperature incorrectly.

The NTC 10k underfloor heating sensor is suitable for:

  • replacing a faulty floor sensor;
  • Heatline HL-series thermostats;
  • other thermostats using an NTC 10kΩ sensor;
  • installation in narrow sensor conduits;
  • low-profile floor constructions where the sensor diameter must be kept to a minimum;
  • installation with a new underfloor heating thermostat;
  • measuring and limiting the floor surface temperature.

The approximately 5 mm diameter probe makes installation easier when the existing sensor conduit is narrow or contains tighter bends.

Check compatibility before ordering

Before selecting a replacement sensor, check the resistance required by the thermostat. The nominal value of this sensor is:

NTC 10 kΩ at +25 °C.

The sensor is not suitable for thermostats requiring a 6.8 kΩ, 12 kΩ, 15 kΩ, 33 kΩ or 47 kΩ floor sensor.

When using the sensor with a thermostat from another manufacturer, check compatibility in the thermostat’s installation manual. Sensors with the same nominal resistance can have different temperature characteristics, which means that the designation “NTC 10k” alone does not always guarantee completely accurate compatibility.

Installation in a sensor conduit

The underfloor heating sensor should be installed inside a protective conduit with a sealed end. The conduit protects the sensor from screed and moisture and allows it to be replaced later without opening the floor.

Install the sensor conduit between two adjacent runs of heating cable so that the sensor does not come into direct contact with the heating cable or heating pipe. The end of the conduit must be sealed to prevent screed or moisture from entering it.

The sensor cable can be extended using a cable with the same or a larger conductor cross-section. The connection must be secure and protected against moisture.

Technical specifications

  • Product type: underfloor heating temperature sensor
  • Sensor type: NTC
  • Nominal resistance: 10 kΩ at +25 °C
  • Connection cable length: 3 m
  • Sensor probe diameter: approximately 5 mm
  • Operating temperature: –20 to +80 °C
  • Resistance tolerance: ±1%
  • Cable extension: up to 50 m if permitted by the thermostat manufacturer
  • Compatibility: thermostats using an NTC 10kΩ floor sensor
  • Heatline product code: 59230103

Important: before replacing the existing sensor, check the thermostat manual to confirm that it requires an NTC 10 kΩ sensor at +25 °C. The meaning of a thermostat error code depends on the specific model, and an error message does not always indicate a faulty floor sensor.

Not sure which sensor is suitable for your thermostat? Send us the thermostat manufacturer and model number or a photograph of its product label. We will help you determine whether this NTC 10k sensor is suitable for replacing the existing floor sensor.
