Smart Plug for Electricity Spot Prices 10A – Powerant

The Powerant 10A electricity price smart plug helps move electricity consumption to the cheapest periods of the day. It automatically controls the connected appliance according to electricity spot prices and the settings selected by the user.

The smart plug connects directly to a standard wall socket and can control appliances with a resistive load of up to 10 A. Configuration, scheduling and remote control are handled through the free Powerant app for Android and iOS.

No separate smart home system, electrical cabinet installation or monthly subscription is required.

How does the electricity price smart plug work?

The WiFi smart plug receives electricity spot price information and switches the connected appliance on or off according to the selected operating mode.

You can configure the smart plug to:

  • operate during the cheapest periods of the day;
  • switch on only when the electricity price is below a selected limit;
  • combine the cheapest-period setting with a maximum price limit;
  • distribute operating periods throughout the day;
  • follow a weekly schedule;
  • switch the appliance on or off remotely through the app.

Once configured, the Powerant smart plug automatically follows the selected settings every day.

Main functions

Cheapest electricity price periods

Choose how many of the cheapest periods during the day the connected appliance should operate. The smart plug automatically identifies the most economical times based on electricity spot prices.

This function is particularly useful for appliances whose operating time can be shifted without reducing comfort.

Electricity price limit

Set a maximum electricity price at which the connected appliance may operate.

For example, the smart plug can be configured to switch an electric water heater on only when the electricity price is below the selected price threshold.

Combined price control

The cheapest-period function and electricity price limit can be used together.

For example, the appliance can operate during the eight cheapest periods of the day, but only when the electricity price remains below the selected maximum level.

Distributed operating periods

The selected operating time can be divided into several periods throughout the day.

This is useful for applications where excessively long interruptions should be avoided, such as water heating, room heating or temperature maintenance.

Reverse operating mode

The reverse mode allows the smart plug to operate using the opposite switching logic.

This function can be used in applications where the connected device must be switched off during cheap electricity periods or activated under separately selected price conditions.

Remote control and scheduling

The Powerant device can also be used as a regular WiFi smart plug.

The mobile app allows you to:

  • switch the appliance on or off remotely;
  • view electricity price information;
  • change price-based settings;
  • create operating schedules;
  • manage the smart plug through an internet connection.

Network fee settings

Different electricity distribution fees can be added for selected times of the day.

This allows the control logic to consider both the electricity spot price and applicable day or night network tariffs.

Suitable applications

The Powerant electricity price smart plug is suitable for appliances whose operation can be shifted to cheaper electricity periods.

Typical applications include:

  • electric water heaters and boilers;
  • electric radiators;
  • portable electric heaters;
  • battery and tool chargers;
  • heating circulation pumps;
  • garage and holiday home heating;
  • pool and hot tub equipment;
  • other plug-connected appliances with a resistive load of up to 10 A.

Smart plug for electric water heaters

An electric water heater is one of the most common applications for an electricity price smart plug.

Water can be heated automatically during the cheapest electricity price periods while the stored hot water remains available when needed. This makes it possible to reduce electricity costs without manually checking daily spot prices.

Before connecting a water heater, make sure that its rated current and power are within the permitted limits of the smart plug.

Easy installation

The Powerant smart plug does not require installation inside an electrical cabinet.

  1. Connect the smart plug to a standard wall socket.
  2. Connect the appliance to the smart plug.
  3. Add the smart plug to the Powerant mobile app.
  4. Select the electricity price settings and operating periods.

The device connects to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and continues controlling the appliance automatically according to the selected settings.

Important information

The maximum permitted load is 10 A for resistive electrical loads.

Motors, compressors, pumps and other appliances with a high starting current may draw considerably more current during start-up than indicated by their nominal power. Their compatibility must therefore be checked before connecting them to the smart plug.

The device has an IP20 protection rating and is intended for use in dry indoor locations. It must not be used outdoors or in wet areas.

The Powerant smart plug is a practical solution for users who want to automate electricity consumption according to spot prices without installing a complex smart home system or modifying the electrical cabinet.
