ELKO EP RHT-1 combines a hygrostat and thermostat in one compact DIN rail device. It controls connected equipment according to air temperature and relative humidity. Depending on the selected operating mode, it can control a fan, heater, cooling unit or dehumidifier.
The built-in sensor measures the ambient air temperature and relative humidity. Eight selectable control modes allow the relay output to activate when one condition is met or when both temperature and humidity conditions are met simultaneously.
RHT-1 can, for example, activate ventilation when temperature or humidity rises, control heating to help reduce the risk of condensation, or operate cooling and dehumidifying equipment according to the selected conditions.

Temperature and humidity control
RHT-1 Hygrostat and thermostat takes both temperature and humidity into account. The temperature threshold can be adjusted from 0 to +60 °C, and the relative humidity threshold from 50 to 90% RH.
The hygrothermostat offers eight selectable control modes. Depending on the selected function, the output activates when one of the specified conditions is met or when both conditions are met simultaneously. It can respond to rising or falling temperature and humidity.
This allows the control logic to be adapted to different ventilation, heating, cooling and dehumidification requirements.
Applications
Ventilation control. In the appropriate operating mode, a fan can be activated when the temperature or relative humidity exceeds the specified threshold. Ventilation can therefore respond to both increasing temperature and rising humidity.
Heating control. Heating can be activated when the temperature falls below the set value or the humidity becomes too high. In an electrical enclosure, for example, RHT-1 can work with a suitable enclosure heater to help reduce the risk of condensation.
Cooling and dehumidification control. The relay output can control a suitable cooling unit or dehumidifier according to the selected temperature and humidity conditions. The equipment’s load type and starting current must be considered when making the connection.
RHT-1 hygro-thermostat has one relay output. The temperature and humidity conditions control the same output according to the selected operating mode.
Built-in sensor and straightforward adjustment
The temperature and humidity sensor is built into the device, so no separate external sensor is required. It measures the air conditions at the device’s installation location.
The manufacturer designed RHT-1 primarily for monitoring conditions inside electrical enclosures and automation cabinets. For other applications, the installation environment, adjustment ranges and relay output characteristics must be assessed for suitability. A device installed inside a cabinet measures the air inside that cabinet, rather than the conditions in an adjacent room.
The temperature threshold, humidity threshold and control mode are set using rotary controls on the front panel. LED indicators show the power supply and relay output status.
In addition to automatic control modes, the output can be set permanently ON or OFF. This allows the connection to be tested or the output to be temporarily disabled.
Compact DIN rail installation
The single-module housing occupies just 17.6 mm of DIN rail space. The universal 24–240 V AC/DC supply allows the hygro-thermostat to be used in control systems with different supply voltages.
RHT-1 includes sensor fault detection. If a sensor fault occurs, the relay contact opens in automatic operating modes, and an LED indicates the fault.

Installation considerations
Install the hygrothermostat so that its ventilation openings remain unobstructed and the built-in sensor can measure the surrounding air conditions. Choose the installation location according to the area whose temperature and humidity are to control the connected equipment.
The 16 A contact rating applies to AC-1 resistive loads. When connecting a fan, compressor or other motor-driven equipment, observe the limits specified in the manufacturer’s instructions for the relevant load type and use a suitable contactor where necessary.
