PID Modbus thermostat operates more accurately and intelligently than a standard on/off thermostat by using the PID algorithm, which consists of three components:

  1. Proportional (P)
Responds to how far the actual temperature is from the setpoint.
The greater the difference, the stronger the heating or cooling response.

  2. Integral (I)
Takes into account the accumulated error over time (i.e., how long the temperature has deviated from the desired value).
Helps correct residual errors that proportional control alone cannot eliminate.

  3. Derivative (D)
Evaluates how quickly the temperature is changing.
If the temperature approaches the setpoint too quickly, the PID temperature controller reduces heating to prevent overshooting.

Unlike a basic thermostat that simply turns on or off, the PID thermostat adjusts the output smoothly and precisely to maintain the desired temperature as stable as possible, avoiding major fluctuations.
Ideal for more complex systems such as industrial processes, laboratories, and similar applications.
